The language
Arabic is the official language and Emiratis speak Gulf Arabic. English is used almost everywhere in daily life, as most residents come from abroad, so a few Arabic words go a long way as a courtesy.
Phrases worth learning first
All 30 phrases are in the phrasebook, and the dialect page explains how the local Arabic differs from the standard form.
