A hands-free interpreter on one phone
Most translator apps make you tap, speak, wait, then pass the phone across. Parlo's Conversation screen listens the whole time. Put the phone on the table, tap once, and both of you just talk. It works in the browser on iPhone, Android and computers, in 86 languages and dialects.
How it works
- Choose your two languages and tap the orb once.
- Talk normally. Parlo hears when someone starts and stops, and works out which of the two languages they spoke, so nobody presses a button between turns.
- Hear the translation. Parlo says it out loud in the other person's language, then listens again. It never translates its own voice.
- Keep the conversation. Every turn is written down in both languages, so you can scroll back, copy it, replay a line or show a phrase on screen.
Built for real places
- Live mode. For supported language pairs the translation starts while the person is still talking, so the reply comes almost as soon as they stop.
- Noisy rooms. Parlo follows the person speaking into the phone and ends their turn when they pause, even when other people are talking nearby.
- Dialects. Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf and Moroccan Arabic stay in dialect. See the Arabic dialect translator.
- The right tone. Polite speech stays polite and casual stays casual.
- Two phones. Sitting apart, or want to read rather than listen? Bridge links two phones with a QR code; each person reads the conversation in their own language, with nothing to install.
What it costs
The free plan includes 75 translations a day, conversation turns included, and 2 live-mode sessions. Parlo Plus (US$4.99 a month) raises that to 1,000 translations and 40 live sessions a day. When live sessions run out, Parlo carries on with its standard engine.
Tips for a smooth conversation
Speak in short sentences, pause between them, and check numbers and names on screen. More in how to have a real conversation through a translator app.
Translations are made by AI and can be wrong, so check anything important. For medical, legal or official conversations, use a professional interpreter.
